RE: spark plug with oil on it.How bad is it?
This is directly from the Haynes manual.
OIL DEPOSITS:
Symptoms: Oily coating caused by poor oil control. Oil is leaking past worn valve guides or piston rings into the combustion chamber. Causes hard starting, misfiring and hesitation.
Recommendation: Correct the mechanical condition with necessary repairs and install new plugs.

Thats where my hesitation problem came fromI bet.I looked at the oil and there was no water in it so I am assuming that the head gasket is not bad.I ordered the valve cover gasket and new plug seals. Is there anything anyone can think of that I might need to do while I have everything apart?Oh yea,I picked up the Hayes manual today also.

I would definetely say the rings. I know it not the same type of car but my mothers honda just had its rings replaced for the same reason, there was alot of oil on only one of the plugs.

Either the rings or valve guides but I would think the valve guides would wear somewhat close to each other so the other polugs should be getting oil soon too.

do a compression test that will tell ya if the rings are bad if all that checks out fine def bad valve guides and this is a simple fix pull head off i would take it to a macinest have them overhaul the whole head with porting and polish it cost about 250-300 last time i had it done depending on if u go with titanium springs and retainers.

I really appreciate all the feedback and I will get a compression test on it tommorrow and see what happens. Will it hurt the car to be driven in the condition it's in for awhile?
