i bought 6x9s to install in the back. should fit right?
wrong. the magnet on the back is to big n hits the wheelwell.
any help??

Do you have 3 ways or 4 ways?
Those will always have deep baskets. A two way with a nominal of 75 watts should have a shorter basket since the magnet and voice coils don't have to be so long.

So go with a 2way speaker and that should fit.

I just used spacers. Find something like the size of5, 1/4" washers and your good.

but. i got covers on the panel. if i space it it will hit the cover..

yea i know what you mean i did the same thing to the GS....you can bring em back to the store for speakers that will fit, depth wise, or if its just hittng the wheel well just a tad, which i dont recemend....is make a dent with a hammer just big enough to fit the speakers flush where the magnet and well meet. i'd just get new ones

I put pionner 6x9s in the back of eclipse. The magnet was hitting the metal so I went and bought spacers and lifted the speaker off the metal and it didnt hit the plastic panel. I also did put the stupid plastic cover that comes with them on either.

Hey i have the 6x9 Polk Momos, and i had the same problem. so all i did is i removed the factory speaker, and in the back where the wood thing is that lifts with the hatch i took my buddys dremil and i drilled out two costum holes. Once i mounted them with the tapping screws i noticed a big difference with the quality. The hatch and the way the hole is built it is used almost as a cutom box. It will cause the speaker bass to hit harder and to echo in trunk.

One more thing if you get speakers with a smaller magnet it wont hit as hard, and a 2 way to the 3 way will make a difference in sound quallity. 2 way will pick most of you sound, but the 3 way will pull out all the sound from your speakers. I went with the Polk Momo 3 way. I can tell a difference from those to any other kind of speaker. Your speaker sound is just like horse power. You have to pay for the high quallity. If you go with smaller speakers so you dont have to drill anything that is up to you. That was what i did, and how i did it and i love the set up i got.

jd - Cutting out custom holes is great... but the speakers you were using are not designed to be 'free air' speakers, youll find that you will get better sound out of them by enclosing them on the bottom of the cargo cover.
