Default 2004 Outlander LS front door speakers

Hi all,
Got my Outtie a month ago and now that the new car smell's gone, I'm looking at some minor tinkering. Speakers seem like easy starters and I've found a few 6.5" ones that I like/can-afford. Question is, do you need any kind of adapter to install them? Crutchfield indicates that an adapter/bracket is needed. What exactly for? Most original 6.5" speakers also come with clips to fit 6.75" mounts. What else is Crutchfield supplying? I like those guys but I found the same speakers elsewhere for about $40 cheaper.

Pointers much appreciated. Thanks!!

when i put new speaker in my outlander, the only thing i had to do was line up one hole to place a screw in to hold it up, then just drill out new holes for the other 2. it really is not a big deal and i wouldnt worry to much. I say this think you are the least bit automotive inclined, if not go to a audio shop and have them do it.

Cool, thanks. Just wanted to be sure I didn't need some wacky hard to find bracket. Installation and drilling are ok with me.

The speakers are one of the only "easy" replacements on the Outlander.
