Default Speed Governor

So I just purchased my 1999 Eclipse, had to park the 3000gt and go for something lighter. The GT can be my commuter now...Any how about my 99 Eclipse. It has a few upgrades and mods, running the 420A motor. Its actually an RS Model built up with Hahn turbo and much more.

My question is how do I remove the speed governor thats limiting me to 127mph?
My 3000gt burst to 135 then crawled up from there, being limited to 127 just will not do.[>:]

If this had been addressed previously in these forums, my apologies. I read through the first few pages and due to time decided to post and ask.

Thank you for any input, it is greatly appreciated.

The eclipse is a whole different thing than a 3000gt. So dont expect it to run the same speed. But why do you even need to go that fast, its pointless

I have gotten up to 142 in my eclipse, I have never heard of a governor on the Eclipse.

ok,

let me clarify,

yes some eclipses come equiped with a speed governor see the link SEbba posted it shows good information on that (http://www.dsm.org/how-tos/speedlimiter.htm ) and thank you Sebba very much, exactly what I needed.

The car has no problem gettin to 127 the limiter is obvious, its not gearing nor lack of power.

As for why do I need to go that fast? Maybe your ok with some punk driving away from you not I? If your gonna back off at 127 why not 90? why not 65? Heck why speed or upgrade our ride?
I have a 73 dodge charger with 450 hp as well as my 3000gt... fast is fun, that fast.. mostly for track days... or....

that day your on the freeway and that punk pulls up in his vyper or vette and think his money bought him the fastest thing on the street. Running up and pacing some one at 125 then droppin the hammer and leaving em in the dust.. Thats why 127 isnt fast enouph.

Yes I know its not the same car as the 3000gt I own BOTH ! I also know very very well the strenghts and weekness's of the 3000gt and have chosen the eclipse and my next fun ride. The 500+ lb difference seems to matter alot in acceleration and braking though they both handle incredibly well. I am an avid Mitsubishi fan.

The specs on it as of current are 420A motor bored .020 over with JE pistons and a magnafluxed crank. The cams and valves are all stock still I havent decided what I am going to do yet there. It has a Hahn stage 1 turbo on it running at 10psi, up to 20 safely according to the shop that did the motor work and dropped it in. But I am hangin at 10 for now. Running headers with a cut out before the cat.

The removal of the governor should do just fine, the Vegas run can see cruisin at 115-130 and at any point at those speeds you could see the desire or be challenged to show your not at your limits...

(However I totally agree it is not necessary to do this nor would I suggest it for a novice enthusiast. and no I dont see these speeds every day either, but the knowledge and that once in a while thrill) Thus how many of us spend $$$$$$$$$$. Some like to look fast, some like to go fast, some want it all.. whats your pleasure!?

Thank you all again btw for your input and help...
Special thanks to Sebba, good stuff !
