Default srt 4

Here's a question for ya guys. I am another one stuck with the 420a. But recently i was told by a buddy of mine that works on eclipse's that the 2.4 srt4 motor and trannyoutta the new neons are direct bolt in for the 420a. no fabrication needed. so anyone know aboutor heard about this before

I don't know about the SRT-4 tranny, but the trans off a 98 Neon R/T is the best 420A trans ever.

its not an easydirect bolt in, theres some fabrication involved, and you need the wire harness and ECU from the srt4 or a standalone.thetransmission mount and pass. side motor mount have to be modified , or in a neon usethe 2.4L adapter that modern performance sells. fuel pump has to be changed... and so on.

the neon trans will bolt up to it but the SRT4 trans is alot stronger. using the srt4 trans means you have to use the SRT axles, spindles and struts. i think thats why most people dont use them.

ive never seen one put in an eclipse or talon but i assume there might be some clearence issues with the turbo being in the rear of the engine bay.
anything is possible if you have the time and knowledge.

There is a junkyard down the street, and they said 2500 for the motor and tranny, ecu wiring harness, and mountsand 1000 for the axles and what not to attach the tire. So wouldn't that be about the same price as any other swap?

1000 seems really high for a junk yard price for axles.. You could prolly buy new stuff cheaper than that.. Atleast for an eclipse you could..

i would say 2500 for EVRYTHING you need. those struts and spindles arent that high dollar stuff. they think theyre sittin on a gold mine when they really have a pile of dirt.
honestly if you price SRT4 axles theyre about $400 a side last i checked.[&:]
you might need to do some measuring first and see if your gonna be able to clear the steering rack and firewall and still be able to have a straight line to the axles. i think it would fit but its gonna be tight.
