take your alternator in to get checked...to see if it is bad

Most likely it's the alternator

Wait, does it crank now, and then just die off?

Well, a good way to check to see if its the alternator is to turn the car on. And while the car is running pull either the negative or positive connection on the battery. If it turns off, then its the alternator and the car is just running on the battery. Which means the alternator not working, causing it to drain the battery.

I would suggest that you pull the Neg. from the battery.

Ok dude, in your F/S posty you state your car may soon need an alternator, so thats probally your cause.
If you're battery lights on, thats a dead giveaway your alternator has crapped.
Replace it and you'll be a-ok.
