3in all the way back on a turbo motor. if it is N\A 3 inch will hurt power.

while 3in is plenty for turbo, saying it will hurt power due to no backpressure on an NA is a widely spread tale. engines performmost efficiently without any piping at all.

I beg to differ on the efficiency part. They suck more gas with a lack of backpressure but they DO get more powerwise.

HP wise but what about TQ youll have no low end with open exhaust, at least that is how I always understood it

it doesn't take all TQ away, but it does cause a minimal loss....as I have understood it.

Well it cant take all the tq away, but I have always heard the car will be a dog on the low end now it all depends on the car i guess, if its a 6G72 Eclipse it may not be so bad but on a 4G64 it might not move very well for a little bit

I have seen where open DPs have helped out turbo cars. I saw a 2005 EVO run the stock DP open with 21PSI a quick tune with an Emanage and upper IC pipe and intake and it ran 12s when a stock 05 VIII should be like 13.4

First off when rereading the original question is this a turbo engine or N/A engine? He says it has a turbo HEAD but not that it's a turbo... And to answer the TQ I didn't feel any loss of TQ on the low end. but as soon as I fixed the blown out flex hose (The reason I was having NO exhaust system LOL) I felt a BIG different in the getup'n'go of the car she's ALOT more sluggish anymore.
