I've been looking through posts and have yet to find a problem like mine. My automatic tranny crapped out so I put in a manual in my 97 Eclipse gs. I know the tranny's good because I got it out of a friend's car. I put it in and it works, shifts good and everything. But the reverse lights and speedometer don't work anymore. Any ide what might be causing this and any idea how to fix it?

 

speedo cable not fitted correctly/different/wrong worm thread.
reverse sender not connected/connected wrong/wrong polarity

 

Thanks, I took a look at the harness for the speedo and the the one for the standard tranny is different from the one for the auto. obviously this means they were never connected together. Now, does anyone know how I could get the harness to connect? maybe stripping the wires and crimping them together instead of connecting them, changing the harness, or maybe some sort of converter?

 

if it's an electrical connection it will be a pulse signal, as long as there is no confusion about the wires, i'd clip, solder and heatshrink them.

 

Any idea where I can find a diagram of the harness and ports? I could just search the internet for days but if someone here could point me in a certain direction that would be greatly appreciated.

one by one, ground them out and see what happens (speedo goes full or tail lights come on)
