I have a straight pipe welded onto my car, I seen having a cat as one more spot to have an exhaust leak. I don't shoot flames. My car starts perfectly and it is not loud at all. I would say its preferenceif you want a test pipe put one on if you want it to be a little quieter go with what sebba said and hollow out your cat.
What kind of muffler do you have? SRT-4s also don't have cats and their high boost cars always shoot out fireballs. They aren't loud either, at that point it's all about the muffler (that's what it does). Our motors will too as long as the boost is high enough. I don't think, mid psi will throw them.

Its a magnaflow muffler ( its an actuall muffler to not just a tip ) i'm running 15 psi on the t25. Maybe it will shoot flames when I get my 16g and put it on 20? lol

emonz has a test pipe and he only gets small backfires every now and again. Sometimes he'll get a loud one that i guess might be shooting a flame, but it does it more when hes slowing down, sometimes when hes just cruising and not even on it. Cuz all the backfire is, is just unburnt fuel from being torich.

Test pipe makes your car run richer? Never knew that.

No no no, that's not what he's saying. He's saying that Mike's test pipe is allowing a straight shot out the tail and since Mike is running rich all you see is black smoke.
If he had a cat, the cat would do what it does to remove most of the black smokeyness (lol, I call dibs on that word!) and unburnt fuel, but since he doesn't have a cat...poof, straight out the back in black.
