Turboing the 420a motor questions??

RE: Turboing the 420a motor questions??
look it bro.... here's what's involved in turbo'ing a 420a:
manifold
turbo
wastegate
o2 housing
down pipe
IC plumbing
FMIC
bov ----all this creates the actual turbo setup----
now you need:
boost gauge
wideband
boost controller
clutch
injectors
fuel pump
tuning device
tune.
after you've spent the 4-6k doing alllll of this to your car you can only run 9 or less pounds of boost until you have to rebuild your bottom end to hold boost which involves:
pistons
rings
rods
main bearings
rod bearings
possible head work
then you can push up to about 18-20lbs before your head starts to break... getting the picture yet? i'm one of the stupid ppl that actually tried doing this. I had the entire turbo setup and bottom end rebuild kit along w/ urethane motor mounts and a knife-edged crank but realized that there was just wayyy to much more to get and didn't really wanna spend another 2 grand to turbo it safely. basically to run a decent amount of power (i concider 300whp) in a 420a you are looking at 6-8 thousand dollars. now JUST to turbo your 420a you could spend the 6k on an AWD GSX and put that extra 2k into modding the gsx and get up to about 350-375awhp. now you've just saved yourself the cost of an entire car..... getting the drift? the fastest street 420a i believe is in the 11's and they have over 20k invested if i'm not mistaken. if you were to put 20k into a gst/gsx you will be looking at about a 600-800whp car.
and yes... the 420a IS garbage. the head gastkets WILL blow... i don't care who you are or where your got your car from, if it has not been changed ur HG is going to blow, they are 140hp to the CRANK. it's a 3500lb car. i had a header back exhaust, aem cai, venom 400 performance chip, greddy grounding kit, port and polished throttle body and egr blockoff kit and i put down 111whp.... that's just BULL compared to the money i spent on the mods.

LOL ok ok ok, i admit defeat, just cut off the gang bang.... the way the ricers are here, 200 real hp, TO THE CRANK, means you are the fastest, and well, im not changing my 420a haha, im not turbing it, but not changing it, its prolly the last car ill have for QUITE a while

ok depending on the person that is building the car, if you have the money and want to do something that not alot of people normally do then stay with the 420A motor, everyone wants to take the easy way out ive seen srt4 push 900 horse ive seen eclipses with the 420 beat the gst/gsx cars.
its all about how you build it.
is it easy no but alot of potential if you no what your doing.
