turboing a auto...

RE: turboing a auto...
You can't use a turbo ecu in a non-turbo car. The ignition timing is different, to top that off, the motors are different.
If you turbo a non-turbo car, you'll need a piggy back computer like an AFC, not to mention fuel system upgrades and for your auto...you'll need a higher stall torque converter, LSD, shift kit (optional). You may also want to stiffen your motor mounts to keep from hopping the wheel(s).

the 420 a's do have a lot of potential, if you have the money, but for what it is worth, you could buy a nice gsx and do some work to that and have a fast awd car. but silvercoupe did do a good job explaining what you would need

The 420a does have potential, but after you spend $4k-$6k, you've just made your 420a with as much HP as a GS-T or GSX...follow me?
Obviously, to the owner it's money well spent, but to the rest of us it's not because modding it will only achieve stock power of a turbo model. Then to surpass that, you'll have to spend double the initial amount and and you've only gained ~100hp. All the while, you spend half of the initial amount on a GS-T/GSX and get a little under double the amount of HP. Now do you follow me...er..us.
Yes, a 420a powered car will look better over a GS-T/GSX in most cases. There's a reason for that though.
If your goal is for power, sell it. If you just want "just a little bit more power", then don't worry about it and just get a turbo kit, upgrade your tranny, and all the other supporting mods and Boost always makes folks smile...or poop their pants, lol.

we arnt trying to flame you. Or tell you not to do it....well some of us are...But its your money. You can do with it what you like. But without building up the block on a 420a you can only run 8psi. So thats only gonna get you to low 15's. So you just spent a bunch ofmoney to run what a stock GS-t runs. All we are saying is that money vs. output really isnt justified IMO. Because they already make a turbo car. Sure there are people that run 13's with the 420a fully built. But once again i still dont see the point in spending all that money.
