Default RE: V6 in a 2nd gen?

ok, thanks for alot of the clarifications guys. as for the "4g63 will not fit" thats exactly what rre told me when i called them up to have them install the 2nd gen 4g63t and fwd auto that i had bought from a friends wrecked gst. in fact they flat out refused to help me out with the install. and they wouldn't tell me any more than "the engine bay in your eclipse with that motor is all wrong for a 4g63, go sell the car and just buy a turbo car." ok, so the only thing that would be stopping a 4g63 is that the engine bay is 4 inches narrower than a turbo car's engine bay? would it be a tight fit or a non fit then? and i just read a post on an older thread asking about the srt-4's motor in a 2nd gen eclips is a perfect fit for the motor mounts, is there any merit to this?

I like said in another post, perhaps it was yours, it will fit. The Eclipse RS, GS, GS-T, GSX, Avenger, Avenger ES, Sebring (coupe) all have the same engine bay. The Avenger/Sebring has a longer engine bay though, just like the Galants have a longer engine bay than the Avenger...all are cousins of each other and the Eclipse/Talon/Avenger/Sebring underpinnings are based off the Galants.
RRE was/is not willing to take the time and effort to do that swap. Probably because or liability issues.

It will fit...period. Fitment isn't the issue, the motor mount locations are. There's also a portion of the engine frame that needs to be trimmed and rebolstered...period.
You will most likely be on your own for a swap like this as shops really aren't willing to take the liability. Most swaps like this are homebrew swaps...unless, you own a honduh.

...and no, you can't swap an SRT-4 motor in without fabricating....otherwise, there would be a lot more SRT-4 motors in Avengers since they have a longer bay...although, not a taller one.
You can use parts of the SRT-4, but most of the parts need to come from the Chrysler's 2.4L PT Cruiser turbo (GT?). The SRT-4's motor is also tall.

With an endless amount of money you can put any motor in any car. But instead of wasting thousands of dollars forcing a v6 into a car you could just buy a GSX or go buy a 3g eclipse? Take the GSX and make that a track car. With all the mods availble you can have a 10 second car or 11 second carin no time. Buy a V6 3G and super charge it. I dont know how fast they are but I would imagine its not too slow.
