Default Valve cover gasket, spark plugs, 97 GST

Whats all involved in changing the valve cover gasket on a 97 GST? It seems like it will be a pretty easy job but i thought i would ask. Also what should the valve cover bolts be torqued to? From what i have read they shouldn't be more than hand tight.... Also what are good spark plugs for a gst? Thanks

Yes, it's an easy job. There's really nothing to note. The torque was 14ft lbs-15ft lbs on the outside bolts and 2.5ft lbs on the inside bolts, which is really light, don't even use a socket type torque wrench, instead use the needle type (nice technical names, eh). Hand tight is a good rule for these fragile valve gaskets and tighten a tad more if it's leaking.
Spark plugs, this was just talked about in another thread...DSMs are happy with NGK BP6ES or 7ES (1 step colder)

That is a lot, that's what my CD manual calls for. I don't do valve covers with a torque wrench though, I prefer hand tight + a quarter turn, lol. I think I told you somewhere around 10-14ft lbs. I don't remember though.

Ft lbs, inch lbs value usually seems high because it's usually double what Ft lbs are.
I'm sure you meant Ft lbs vs. Inch lbs

It's almost automatic for me to convert that in my head, isn't it for y'all? It's just basic math..so now, when I see 168in lbs on a page, I'm thinking the math, lol. Then there's NM...nm x .74 = ft lbs.

Torque

foot-pounds(ft-lbs) into Newton-metres(Nm) ft/lbs x 1,35 = Nm

Newton-metres(Nm) into foot-pounds(ft-lbs) Nm x 0,74 = ft/lbs

Newton-metres(Nm) into kilopond/cm²(kp/cm²) Nm x 0,102 = kp/cm²
