Default very strange idle issue

hey i wonder if any of u guys can help me. I idle a little higher than i would like. when i start the car it races up to sometimes 2500 rpms before very slowly coming down to a 1000rpm idle. if i pull off right away the rpms shoot up every time i use the clutch to switch gears. I have to let it sit for like 15 minutes and then this problem is lessened. but if i turn it off and turn it right back on again i would have to wait another15 minutes. has anyone every heard of that?

well first off, what kind of car is it?
you may want to check and see if your MAS is plugged in correctly
what it sounds like to me is a vacuum problem so you may want to open your hood while the car is started and listen for a hiss or look for a unhooked hose

Hey, do you have any exact compression numbers from the break in a while back?
