Default What Should I Get?

Hey all, I'm new to the forum and to mitsubishi period, but eclipse has been one of my favorite cars for a while now and i'm looking to buy one. My problem is that i have no idea what models/trims do what. The RS, GS, GT, GTS, GST, GSX, anything else out there. I guess I need to know the difference in handling, speed, acceleration, gas milage, reliability for under 13k. Any and all imput would be great. I'm looking to get a stick and a year 2000-2005 if that helps with decision making. Thanks.

00-05

00 GS\RS are SLOWWW rs has no option most of the time
00 GT are fed specs run about a 14.9 1\4 mile and are very reliable

01 GS\RS most were cali specs so even more slowwer
01 GT most were cali spec 1\4 mile in 15.2ish
01 also became availible in convertible

02 all were cali specs and the mitsu symbol was changed from red to silver now

03 GTS version came out 14.0 1\4 mile about 10HP more than the GT. taillights were revised to the grey ones and front end is changed
all 03 spyder GT's came with the GTS motor added power to make up for the added weight of the convertible

04-05 all were the same

all models were avail with the sporty 5spd and straight auto trans.

I think you can get any of these used for $15k or less now most are arround $10k these days.

There is no GSt or GSX after 1999 pre 2000 the eclipses were know to be un reliable.

00-05 eclipses are not mod friendly they dont make much power off of cheap mods. the GS\RS takes well to a turbo and can take alot of boost (15psi with good tune) the GT motor can only take 8 PSI max without replacing pistons. the GTS motor can only take about 6 PSI. the GTS has the weakest pistons to get FI with the compression is high the rest of both the GT and GTS motor is very strong so if going FI replacing the pistons and that is all internally will get you quite a ways
