Default A wierd pulse in the lights?

I have a 96 GST. Just bought it so I dont know much about it yet. What I do know about it is that it has been raped by a teenager :-0. At night time when I turn on the lights all of them (headlights, interior, dash) have a sort of pulse to them. I have a little experience in the electric field to I took it into my own hands to check the grounds. I checked quite a bit of them but did not find much. ANY IDEAS???

LOL is everyone scared of the electrical stuff??? Anyways I have narrowed it down just a little more. It seems to only happen when the car is running, and the engine is under a load.

so you are saying they are flickering. I'm not very good with electrical but i would start by checking the connections on the battery terminals. Maybe take a volt meter to it and see what the battery is putting out when the car is running. other than that i can really help you. I hate electrical

Check your alternator, my 1g did the same thing. I replaced the alt and the problem went away.

I do not. I actually disconnected the stereo because i thought that may be it. It was not. How do I check the alternator? Do I have to take it to autozone or somehting and have them throw it on there super duper tester?

Autozone can do it, or anyone with a decent battery charger.

So hey any luck on your lights yet? One thing that was recommended to me is a voltage stabilizer. MSD has them, but Ive also seen a few onebay that looked good.

its the alternator the way you are describing it it sound like you have bad windings in the alternator i could get all technical and spell it out for you just replace the alternator because its filing and eventually will not charge the car at all it will solve the pulsing problem but if you want just let me know but first check out www.howstuffworks.com it will give you a good explaination
