Default "Smart" Key

i have a 2000 eclipse gs with a key that has to be programmed. Do i have to go to a dealership and get raped for 120 just for the key or can i find a better deal. Also could a ford dealership program my mitsu key?

Your probably gonna have to get it done at the dealer b/c they have the software/scanner to program the key. But $120.00 is a lot for getting a key cut and programed. Call different mitsu dealers and whats the cheapest.

Yes you do have to use the dealer. I did the same thing. Had a key made somewhere else, it would run for like 10 seconds and shut off. That is actuall a good price, the dealer here in Shreveport, LA told me $185. I didn't get one. I have an extra key @ home, it will unlock the doors at least if I lock my keys in the car or something.

Good luck...take your vasoline!!

where did you get your spare cut?

I took my only key to Wal-Mart a few days ago, they wouldn't even do a "dumb" copy because it had a chip.

I got it done at the hardware store...try a smaller 'mom and pop' style store. China-mart is finicky about stuff like that.

I got a key from E-bay and took it to the dealer. Probably got screwed on the programing but the key was cheap.
