2001 eclipse clutch, water problems...
2 questions:
1. I have 79,XXX miles on my v6 3.0 gt 2001 eclipse, when is my clutch due to go out. Also when has everyone elses clutches went out.
I always thought they were made to go out is this true?
2. Im thinking of cutting the carpet out just enough that I can cover the hole with carper mat, then drilling tiny holes in the floor board to release water. Good idea? I did this before on my mercury sable in the trunk after a accident caused the trunk not to close all the way.
This sucks.
It seems as though my front floor is wet. The side of the carpet isnt wet though. I really want to get rid of all the carpet now. Will this make it louder inside while driving ?

What you need to do first is put down the razors and calm down.
The clutch is not "due" to go out unless you drive your car fast and furious tyte. It could last to 100k if you take care of your car and drive it properly.
Now, to the water situation. Does it snow in your area? If so, the water could be from entering your car with snow on your shoes/boots and melting off from there. If that's not it, check your weather stripping around the windows. If there's any visual wear you might want to consider replacing it.

Ok thanks for the clutch info. Did your clutch go out at that time on your eclipse?
No their isnt any water marks visble. Thants the first thing I checked. The bottom is wet on the floor in all 4 areas on the floor. Also their is no moisture on the walls surrounding the wet areas.
It s actually pretty strange. It seems like the water is coming up fom the ground.
Im pretty lost on this one.

yup water on the floor is usually indicitive of having a bad heater core or you have a leak in the lines at the heater core. The problem with this part is that its a PITA to get to. You have to remove all of the dash to get to it. And since your saying its just on the floor and not comming in from windows or sun roof, then this is my bet

i have a 00 gt with a sun roof and mine is only leaking on the drivers side front and back. i put water on the out side no drips under dash, iput water in the sun roof front drain and it came out under the car in front of the door, but when i rain water to the back drain it rain along above the head liner and down the front piler and came out behind the fuse box cover right on to the floormate. this might be your problem to and dose any one know how to fix it. hope this help to solve were the water is coming from.KTB

i fixed my water prblom and this mite help. i read how to fix it on a 3gen fourm, if you have a sunroof then you have to take it down and there is a drain hoses on the coners and you have to blow them out, it was also told to me that the sunroof is not watertight on these cars. but that only the drains are disgined to let out a the amout of water that can get in past the outer seal. hope this helps. the ac thing is also plasable i seen pics on a tairdown and the condeser under the dash behined the radio had all cinds of stuff in it and the car was a 05 so i am going to clean mine wial i have it down.KTB
