2001 rear window repair on convertible
Looking to avoid replacing the entire top, which I'm told would be about $1,300. Wondering whether anybody has found a way to make this repair. Here is the issue: Stitching around the glass window is coming apart, mostly due to age and sun, and the window is starting to fall out. Top in great shape otherwise.
I'm told by dealers that the window is heat-pressed to the top and that the stitching is just a detail effect. They say they can't repeat the heat-pressing process without cracking the window. Seems odd to me, but I've gotten the same answer from independent convertible top repair places.
Any experience to share?
Thanks, tom
