i have a 5 speed 2000 eclipse that has a hard time going in to first and second almost all the time, i cant downshift into first until ive made a complete stop, and second is hard to downshift to as well, but when im accelerating, shifting up is little trouble if any! 3rd 4th 5th are pretty cherry but reverse is a bitch to get into as well.

(the guy that owned this before me said he looked into it a little and said that the clutch needs adjusted?) id like a few more opinions before i dive into it.

 

sounds to me like the shifter cable is messed up. Check out the connections on the transmission and make sure its all buttoned down. Also does it feel like your clutch is disengaging fully? If not you may just need to adjust the clutch pedal. But seeing as how its not every gear i cant see how it would be that.
