EGR code - temperature gauge fluctuation
Hello all. I'm hoping that some of you could shed some light for me. My girlfriend has a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT (V6) with around 45k miles on it. The car threw a check engine light and I had her take it to Advance Auto Parts. We used the OBDII scanner and they printed out the problem which is the EGR valve. I bought cleaner to clean it. I just would like to know ahead of time where it is. Is it behind the engine and are there any pictures on the net that I could go by? Years ago I cleaned it on a Taurus SHO I had and it was right behind the throttle body so it was easy to get to. Also, on the way back from Advance Auto Parts the check engine light went away but now the coolant temperature gauge is haywire. It would go up to right below the top which made us think that the car was overheating at first and then it would go back down to where it should be. It would then go up again and down again within 5 seconds. Could this be related to the EGR valve? If not, do any of you know how that gauge gets its information? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you,
Ryan
