Default Engine light after Oil change

I live in florida and just changed my oil today. I used Synthetic 10w30.
After driving for a few minutes my engine light came on and it felt and sounded sluggish. It also jerked a little while idling. What could be wrong with it?

Ah....you are saying that you don't know what to do, well it could be anything within the ECU or one of the sensors or any number of things that will trigger the CEL (check engine light), so that narrows it down to maybe a hundred or less things. Could be something as simple as a loose gas cap.

Did you know that you can go to most national auto parts stores and they can use a scanner to determine what the code is and sometimes it will tell you what the issue is. Otherwise you need to do some web surfing to find out what that code means for your specific vehicle so you can make the appropriate repairs.

If someone can diagnosis what it is by the little amount of information you gave, they must have had a similar problem or they are clairvoyant.

I did know that I could go and get the code. I was just trying to see if anyone had any ideas before I risked driving out. Thank you.
