Flooding on passenger side floor of Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2000 model
I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2000 car - last few months, every time it rains, water leaks in and floods the floor on the passenger side - I took the car to a body shop guy, who hosed the car and confirmed that the leak comes from behind the glovebox on the passenger side - took the car to a mechanic who removed the glovebox, but could not find any leaks on the firewall there - but he said the water seems to be coming from the left of the glovebox - how do I find it and fix it ?? the water has already messed up my audio system amplifier - the dealer tells me that diagnosis would cost $600 to remove the entire dashboard to look for any leak/hole on the firewall and anything further will cost more - is there a way I can fix it myself ?? thanks in advance
600 is very fair..I also had this problem-Heater core,Im a smog person we dont do AC work alot. So a buddy shop said they can do it for 1000 My reply...eff it I got blankets
autozone.com has ALLDATA so check out the diagrams and info if you choose to take off your dashboard...If I can get it from work.We have Mitchell On Demand which has very details procedures.

so do you still think it is the heater core that is causing this ??
It could be a number of differnt things honestly. I have heard of bad seals in the door weather stripping and windshield and cracks in the firewall all from other types of cars, It is just that in the Eclipse 3G it is totally common on ALL of them that the Heater core leaks eventually.

Yep .. dry it up and pour water on different areas and then look for it coming in. If it was the heater core you'd notice a distinct smell from the antifreeze mix in the water.
My sunroof is off balance I guess. Lole the left rear corner is higher then the other corners and when it rains it leaks and the water goes from the sunroof to the support beam down it past my dashboard to my floorboard. Could my sunroof be aftermarket or no? I had my cuz and my bro look at my car and one says its not aftermarket one says it is.
