Help!
Hi all,
For the past week or so, my 2001 eclipse has been acting strange. When the engine is cold, the car starts without any whims. But once I drive it around for a while, shut off the engine and try to restart, it just whines - literally!!! Battery is good - this is the first thing I verified.
Last week aftera drive of about 10 miles with A/C on, I switched off the engine. After an hour or sothe car wouldn't start.A couple of tries later the engine fired up but "Service Engine Soon" light came on. I could smell burning plastic too (Short circuit?).
I drove up to a friendly neighborhood mechanic, who hooked up the computer and told me there was a problem with the crankshaft sensor. He reset the code and asked me to drive around a bit, but the problem did not recur.
On Saturdaythe problem occured again - smell of burning plastic resurfaced and "Service Engine" light came on. [&o]
Oncethe "Service Engine" light is on, the problem just disappears.
I apologize for the loooooooooooooooong msg.
Any pointers on what the problem could be?
Cheers!
