i have a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder automatic 4cyl.....it has been making this pop/knocking noise only when taking off or coming to a stop its a quick pop or a creek sound , sounds like coming from underneath me in the front...i have had the sway bar...cvs joints and the bushings all checked out......my mechanic who has done work on every car i owned put it on the lift and cant find what is causeing this noise....it started few months back and has become more noticable...it sounds like a metel to metal pop or knocking...it drives fine and there are no noticeable differences besides the noise...any input would be so appreciated

 

have your struts, ball joints, and tie rods checked by a different mechanic...might not hurt to have the cv axels and wheel bearings rechecked as well...this is one of the many things i work on on a daily basis and ive dealt with this quite a few times
