Just totalled my wifes SUV that I just bought for her. Some guy driving a RAM 1500 was texting and "didn't see me stopped in traffic" . (see pic)
That was three days ago, so I got to looking on CL for her a new ride, found a decent deal on an eclipse and HERE I AM! haha.

My first question (there will be many, as I love to work on my own cars and forums are a life saver) is how do I tell if mine is truly a Spyder? the title says eclipsespgt. and he claims it's a spyder but it doesn't say it on the back of the car, just says gt. any advice or knowledge for a noob?

 

Ok the car definitely needs some tlc.

Problem #1. When stepping on and off the gas pedal I noticed that there's a loud "squeaking" sound coming from the engine area. Sounds like its coming from directly in front and below the cd player. I think it might be an engine mount but which one?

Problem #2. When I turn the wheel to the left I notice vibration coming from the front end. I don't think its th brakes because when braking it doesn't affect the vibrations. Any advice on these subjects is greatly appreciated!

So first of all I hope that u aren't banned or left to another forum but ur right, 33 views and no hits is kinda retarded. But any how on to your q&a.Now as far as I know a "spyder" just means that it is a drop top, its internal and drive train are the same as the GTwith exception to some electrical and the alternater.

Prob#2 could be your sway bar end link, and if ones gone than check em all cuz when mine went 2 went together and the other two the next summer.

As for prob#1 really I have no idea, but I do know that the intake manifold is on the other side of the stereo and I believe the throttle body is close in that area so I would start there.
Hope I could be some help, and I hope others will stop just reading questions and maybe offer some help.

 

I just joined too, so I'll assist where I can. The term Spyder relates to, as misobichy explained previously, the fact that your car is a convertible. The reason why there is no badge is probably because either A) the previous owner did a minor debadging of the vehicle or B) it has been repainted and some dumb@ss forgot to put "Spyder" back on the car...dumb I know, but it happens.

Can't help you with the mechanics, that's not my area of expertise sorry.
