Default NEW!!! wanting some info...

Hey guys, my fiance has a '01 Eclipse GS. it has a little over 107k miles. Just wanting to know what to expect from the car in the next couple years also, was wondering if there is a service chart online that the dealer recommends for the maintinence. dont know much about the DSM cars.

not much different than any other car, the engine in your car is extremely well built and with one 107k still has plenty of life in it. I'd do the regular tune up that you'd do on any new car, new plugs, wires, oil, fuel cleaner, oil filter, air filter. After that you will be just fine. congrats on the car

wow, my apoagies... i'm soo ariheaded today... for whatever reason when i read 01' i SAW 91' that's why i was so suprised at the miles. my bad. same maitnence... as any other car, oil chance every 3k miles or 3 months, air filter, occasional fuel cleaner, check spark plugs every once in a while... no big deal to keeping these things up.

its cool thanks guys. Is the timing belt hard on these? i'm pretty mechanically inclined when it comes to doing the work. I just did the timing belt on my '01 jetta and it was a pain in the A$$. stupid transverse motors!

she has had the car for 3 years now, i plan on doing: fuel filter, ait filter, not time for oil change yet, replaced the plugs not too long ago.

also her car has been getting worse gas mileage, i know new air filter and fuel will help, just didnt know if there are any specifics that help.

i'm a porsche mechanic, so i know bout all the tricks mainly for porsche's and euros, but not on anything dsm....

if you've had the car for 3 years and haven't changed fuel filter or air filter in that much time... yea. its time. if you haven't even checked your air filter in that time, i'm almost sure that's what giving you bad gas mielage. another thing... you say "she has had the car for 3 years now" then you immediately state It's not time for oil change yet. i just want to make sure that you have changed the oil in the last 3 years lol being a porsche mechanic i would hope that you know better but hey, there are those ppl out there. also may want to start thinking about trani fluid change. timing belts aren't hoffic but not a pleasure at the same time. just doing it by yourself i'd say it's a FULL day's job or an easygoing weekend job. a friend and i got mine done on my 99gs on a saturday.
