Piggybacks have the benefit of tweaking at anytime where a chip is "laid in stone" and can become more expensive if you're constantly looking for the "better" tune.

Its usually better to just run a piggy back, as it wont seriously increase the value of your car (especially if you wreck it)... and can be removed and sold.

this statment is only partly true. It is better to NOT run piggybacks if you will never need to retune the car. I am doing both in my Evo. I will have the ECU flashed so the tune will be just right for everything I have and I will use the SAFCII for minor adjustments there after just incast I run race gas or something

Oh and since we are talking a 3G there is no need for anything untill you run headers that are aftermarket. And the 3G eclipse does offer the same type of ecu flashing as the Evo so you wont need a chip or a piggyback unless you want it.

But dont waiste your money unless your going to get headers or going to go turbo or SDS

I didnt mention anything about retuning... Though it would seem easier to me to have the chip sent back out if you want serious changes made. While still making your car operational using the standard factory programming.
