Default Seeking Oil Advice

I need to get my car in for an oil change but I'm not sure where to take it. I want to use synthetic but I don't want to pay $6.00 for a quart of oil. Can someone tell me where I can go to get some decent full synthetic with a nanofiber filter for under $50? I thought about ordering everything online and doing it myself as I always have, but I can't find any good websites for products like this.

Wall mart 5 quart jug of Mobile 1 full synthetic for $20, advance Purolature One filter for $6. Do the work yourself for FREE. Total cost a hair shy of 1/2 what you want to spend.

I took your advice and went with Mobil 1 oil and filter. Only cost me $35.35 and I prefer to change it myself so it worked out both ways. Also, my check engine light went off for reasons I don't know why. I did fiddle with the sensor wires while I changed the oil, maybe they were loose or something. Ahhh next stop at 49,000miles.

LOL maybe. Also when was the last time you changed the PCV valve? If it's never been done I suggest doing it now. It's a 5 minute job but if you don't change it either every 30K miles or once a year you'll likely be setting yourself up for valve cover gasket as well as Rear main oil seal jobs. NOT fun (Valve cover isn't bad but a rear main SUCKS). Also make sure to check your air filter and the condition of your OTHER fluids. And start pickin things up for the timing belt at 60K like he said. DEFINATELY don't want to be late on that (Might as well do ALL belts at that time too). ooo don't forget the fuel filter as well... lol

PCV= Pressure control and ventilation. Basically there is a hose on your valve cover. Go to the parts store and get a PCV valve ask for one for your car at the counter they'll get it. It'll run you less than $4 to get. Find the piece that looks similar on your car. It will be either plugged into your valve cover OR it will be inline on the hose coming off the valve cover. It's VERY easy to change. A simple plug and play type item but potentially deadly if you don't bother to change it. (One of the things that pisses me off when I see people complain about VC gaskets and rear main oil leaks because it's THAT simple a job to do. It will take you 5 minutes and less than $5 but they just either don't know or don't bother.)

Can you guys tell me what kind of oil you use? I took my 01 Eclipse Spyder GT to a Castrol quick lube place. They put 10w 30 in it. I don't think its synthetic. My car has 47k miles on it. Every since I had the oil changed it smells weird.. smells like something is burning under the hood. Hasn't had any problems with the car before this and it still runs normal, just smells weird. Let me know please
