Default strut replacement and automatic tranny quick question

so i am now looking at 3g eclipses and have found a few that i like. i was wondering if anyone can tell me when the struts should be replaced and also when ball joints, and other suspension things should be replaced please by mileage or time wise would be nice. as a general rule of thumb i have always said that any car needs new strust like every 60,000 miles give or take the amount of abuse. also can anyone comment on how well the 4clyinder automatic transmissions hold up. i would like to find a manual, but the ones with the auto's are so much in nicer shape. i just dont want to end up like 4,000 miles later and have to rebuild it. ive only owned manuals, and not to sure how to detect a bad automatic transmission other then if it clunks or shifts badly, so yeah if anyone can enlighten me, you would be in my good graces forever, thanks in advance.

well i dont really know about the auto trannys other than what u have said, but you are pretty spot on with the struts. i've always herd that its a good rule of them to inspect the suspension every 50k or so. make sure everything is good and replace whats needed.
