Hi,

I have a 2002 Eclipse that is having start up issues... Car started fine through the winter with no problems whatsoever but after not being started for a month or two it has failed to start. Yesterday I replace a headlight plug and after install I decided to give the cart a start but to no avail. Turn of the key the car did not respond with dome light, dash lights, headlights, etc... My first thought was maybe the battery was dead so I checked the battery for juice and all was good. I tried even jumping it with a jump box to see if it just needed a little kick but again a no go. Now, this is where it gets funny... After being frustrated to the boiling point I decided to give the key a turn again, upon turning the key forward the dash lights came on, etc but when I tried to start the vehicle it suddenly killed all power again to the dash lights, etc and you guessed it no start. Any idea what is happening here? My gut is telling me maybe it is the ignition cylinder since I have heard the keys/cylinder wear and sometimes this could lead to the car not starting. Any suggestions as to where I should start trouble shooting? I appreciate any and all help. Thanks for your time...

clean your battery cables and terminals

 

Check your main fuse. If that goes out, everything does.
