I realize it's been 6 months since I posted this question, but I also realized that I had forgotten to follow up and post my solution....
The problem was indeed the AC drain. My mechanic said there was a rubber drain piece that was missing. They put a small hose on and caulked around it and charged me a whopping $45! The car ran fine all summer with heavy AC use and there was no leak.
