Timing Belt Tensioner
Hello
I am a bit of a noobie here, did a search & was unsuccessful. My wife's 2007
Spyder was in for service this morning. It is a low-mileage garage queen with 25,000 km. (15,500 mi.). I took it in to have the timing belt changed to satisfy the remaining powertrain warranty. The dealer wanted to tack on another $250-$300 + taxes to a bill already north of $700 to replace the timing belt tensioner. He said it was in good shape but they have a history of failure. In light of the fact this car rarely gets driven should I have allowed him to replace the tensioner (which I understand is hydraulically actuated)? Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks & Cheers
JB

No. Relax. Chances are if you said yes you'd be paying $300 for the ink on your bill as I doubt they'd change it anyway. My wife has a low mileage 2008, I have a 2006 GT, got the same "warning" along with some other crap I knew enough about. Is there another dealer nearby you, or another service you trust?
