I cant figire out what engine and trans is in my 97 eclipse
CAN ANYONE HELP.Ihave 97eclipse gs,fwd,4 speed automatic transmission.I don't no what engine and transmission is in my car.I just got it and its definantly not the stock 2.4n/t.I need to replace the trans.but don't know what engines or trans will fit.stock eclipse motor&trans to expensive.I NEED A CHEAP SET UP.

I have same exact 97 gs fwd a/t!!! The motor is the chrysler 420a DOHC 2.0L and the auto trans is the chrysler 41TE/ A604,,, the mitsubishi version of the same trans is called a F4AC1...if u lookat the metal plate on pass side of firewall, it tells you all info about the car, color code and all!!! Also the 2.4L/ 4G64,,, only comes stock in the 95'-99' 2g eclipse spyder, which spyder means convertible!!!
