1993-1999 engine swap
I'm in the process of swapping a 1999 turbo motor into my 1993 eclipse. Before i get dozens of responses telling me why I shouldn't do this let me say this... I know, yes I have all the electronics, the harness, the sensors.. blah blah blah. The problem i'm running into is the front mount. On the 93 it goes from the front of the block to the subframe. On the 99 the mount is supposed to go from the tranny to the subframe. I have come up with a few solutions to the problem, just looking to see if anyone else has run into this and how they dealt with it. Thanks for any help.

RE: 1993-1999 engine swap
The 1993 had a 1.8 in it. The problem is that the older tranny doesn't have the holes for the front mount bracket, neither does the newer motor. My best guess so far is to drill and tap the bell housing, mount the bracket as it would be on a later model, and move the subframe to the passenger side about two inches. I think the easiest thing to do would be to get the newer tranny but I don't want to. As strange as it may seem I'm trying to see how fast i can go with no actual cash involved, so far all the parts were a result of trades and bartering.. throwing money at the problem is to easy

So wait...you are planning on using the 1.8 tranny on the 2.0 engine? Pretty sure that wont work. Have you tried bolting them together yet? i MIGHT be wrong, but sounds like a long shot...unless I am misinterpretting something here.

well, no I haven't bolted them together, but I run a commercial sales program at an auto parts store and i talked to the techs at our transmission rebuilder, they both said there is no difference in the bell housing bolt pattern. of course nothing is certain until I put the two together but I am reasonably confident they will be fine
