Default 1990-1992 Vs. 1993-1999 4 bolt engine

Can someone tell meif the1993-1999 VR4 cars are better since their enginesare 4 bolt rather than the 1990-1992 vr4's.
If it is can you explain why the 4 bolt is stronger or somthing?

Im going to buy a VR4 andim waiting on this question so i can know which to buy : a old model like a 1992 VR4 fora cheap priceand buy a new engine and 25spline tranny for it ,or go for the newer 2nd gens VR4's that arelike 11,000and get a new engine

Are the newer models1994-1999 or 1993 better to get than the 1990-1992 ?(as in holdin up to600hp and reliablity or somthing)
Thank You

Short answer...no.

There have been some high HP 2 bolt engines. The real difference is that they went to a forged crank/connecting rods in 93 (the same year they changed the crank/cam angle sensors).

Some people like the pre 94 because the ECU's are OBD1.

Doesn't really matter what you get...it all comes down to this little saying.
It can be fast, reliable, or cheap...pick two.

i'm pretty sure the 1994-1999 engine is different from the 1993. at least i thought it was. and for the 94-99 engine i'm pretty sure you need the six speed tranny so you'd have to convert to a 6 speed

The trans isn't the difference, the difference is in the wiring, I asked this one time before , the crank and cam angle sensors are also different places amongst other things, A new friend of mine came into this situation put a 96 in a 92 and just could not get it to run so after months of dickering with it he ended up doing all the wiring and vroom she started. To me it just seems like more of a hassle then just slapping the right year motor in.

You can swap your heads over from the 92 engine, then it will be plug and play. The rear head houses the crank/cam sensor on the 91-92's...I think I would rather do that than cut into the wiring harness...but that's just me.
