Default 1997 eclipse drive shaft

Hi i have a 1997 eclipse non turbo 2.0engine manual trans and the other day it just slammed on the floor, i looked and i believe it to be the drive shaft.
How much do these go for and how much could i spend for a mechanic to fix it.
And also should i have my rack n pinion replaced?

Go to autozone and purchase a replacement, should be $67. Rent the axle nut remover, and any other tools you need to complete the job. You'll need a crowbar/prybar to get that remaining piece of the axle out of the transmission too.

Don't pay some clown to do this for you.
