2002 Galant 2.4L having issues:

Background:
Car originally from deep south ... relocated to intermountain west and after first week it's dead in the water. Although the move is probably unrelated to anything I suspected fuel problems being that between here and there (2100 miles) the likelyhood of getting bad gas is pretty good.

Went to crank car to warm before taking kids to school ... it ran about 5 minutes .. put it in reverse then poof. Fuel level was getting low .. maybe bad gas .. usually kept her above a quarter tank. No codes thrown.

I put a small amount of fuel down the throttle and sheruns briefly (lol til the fuel supply runs out).

Thus I concluded it was either the filter or the fuel pump so I replaced it ... seeing that its an all in one deal! Well I replaced the pump within the little unit. Is there a built in filter as well? I blew thru the hoses on the module lol ... everything appeared free! Gesh whatever happened to old fashioned filters n pumps??

Any Ideas??!!! Need help here is only mode of transportation!

 

UPDATE!! Working now .. der I feel stupppid! After resetting computer ... I think thats what I did by disconnecting positive cable ... it works fine. Fix = replaced fuel pump ... reset computer.

All's well that ends well and actually this forum did help. Just had to pour through the various postings. Now for other problems lol ... how come my car sounds like its got a squirell cage under the hood??

 

now what exactly does a squirell cage sound like?? . Is it a metal hitting sound? Please elaborate
