Outlander has 93,000 miles we have owned it for 4 years, previous owner is a very good friend that tended to the vehicle as his mechanic directed him to. Other than not using Firestone/Bridgestone tires the vehicle is rather strong. My concern is that the vehicle is considered to have LOW MILES with my goal is to keep it mechanically sound for quite a few more years as I drive it maybe 4500 miles a year. 4 cylinder FWD Automatic likely considered the BASE Vehicle when new in 2006. The MPG is terrible in the winter, 15-17 mpg and now that is warmer in Columbus Ohio the MPG is 22-24. I tend to the tire air pressure every 3-4 weeks, maintain alignment, and balance also timely oil changes that are non synthetic.
Unrelated but maybe not, I am considering using an engine oil additive to clean up or maintain the internal parts of the engine. I have no reason the think that anything is wrong I just want to insure that the engine will be in good condition for at least 10 years. I'm afraid that some additives could remove carbon build up and then harm the internal workings. Any thoughts or ideas about additive such as LUCAS OIL additives. Lucas oil additive persevered my 2002 Camry due to a misaligned valve guide for a number of years. Respectfully submitted nesbittn@yahoo.com
