RE: Blue/white smoke
I would say you have a piston ring that is worn out that is allowing oil to coat the cylinder wall. When you start the car the smoke is the oil that is being burned. Check you oil level as well to much oil is just as bad as not enough. If you have access to a Compression tester test the compression to see if the rings are worn.

It is definatly a seal. I would say head gasket or piston rings. get a leak down test and a compression test. If you get a haynes manual it tells you what the pressure should be for each cylinder.

Okay.So it is my rings and im told it will be close to a $1000 job,But what im thinking is it worth it? Or should i just turn this eclipse into a work-on car this summer buy a new car and just rebuild the engine of the eclispe over the summer?Or should i just sell it?

RE: Blue/white smoke
i got myself into the same situation. buy a different car and sell the one you have while it still runs. once you get into rebuilding the motor up you can be up to a couple grand if you have all the work done right. to do all the engine work yourself your looking at $1,000 and thats if you put the cheap parts in it. but its up to you. good luck with your decision.
