venting your blowoff valve to atmosphere will not blow up your engine or make it run like crap. Yes it does make your engine run rich between shifts, and there is no reason to do it if you care about performance over sounding 'cool'. What it will do is hurt your acceleration because dumping that air back into the intake keeps your turbo spinning between shifts, so without if you will have more turbo lag. The most damage it could do to anything is your o2 sensors. Over time, the rich carbon exhaust is going to wear your o2 sensors, then your performance is going to suffer due to a poor air/fuel mixture.

That sounds about right. I really didn't think it would blow anything up... or actually run like crap but I did know that it would lag... I wanted to do it for sound and get rid of some stuff... but, im just going to leave it for now.

ok. if you take your dump tube off, your car will not ideal right, will not accelerate right, it will start to backfire and die trying to ideal. if thats not running like crap i would hate to ride in your car. itr will run rich and if you leave there and keep doing it you will damage your engine.as for the dump tube helping with spool up, the 2 g has a t-25 its a small turbo and has very very small lag. not having that tube there will not hurt spool up at all. but thats not what hurts the car when you open the dump tube, it was already said the air the is dump out is air that was read by the mas. so the car is trying to add fuel for air that it does not have.

maybe i wasnt clear. everything i said about taking off the dump tube applies to having an aftermarket bov. The only way it could make your car idle like crap is if your bov leaks while idling ( for ex - if you try to take off the dump tube with a stock bov) If you have an aftermarket bov like the hks or greddy your car will run fine. i have vented to atmosphere for a long tiome with no problems at all and tons of people do. venting your bov will NOT make your car run like crap, it will NOT make it idle like crap or die while idling, it will NOT affect acceleration. and it is not going to damage your engine either. who has heard of anyone damaging an engine from venting your bov?

Thats true but, you should beable to vent your stock BOV right>? I mean I have a 1st gen talon so the BOV isn't plastic.
