Default Broken body-side fuel door latch

Hi all,

I just purchased a 2003 Lancer with a few minor issues, one of them being a broken fuel door latch. The part that's broken, though, isn't on the door, but is attached to the body - presumably the part that also releases the door when the lever is pulled. The whole thing is just broken off and the door won't stay closed because of the spring that allows it to open when the lever is pulled.

I can't find any replacement part of the broken latch - do anybody have any idea of where I could get one or a DIY solution other than duct tape?

Thanks!

Default

fabricate one out of a piece of half inch flat steel. Rivet it on.
