I have an 02 Galant. I was driving the other day when I heard a whirring/grinding noise coming from the engine and then it just shut off. I had it towed home and had my dad look at it. It started once and then as soon as I gave it gas it died again and won't start again. He did a compression test and all 4 cylinders have low compression on a wet compression test. He also checked the timing belt and it appears to be in time. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong with it? Maybe the fuel pump? Or do I just need a new engine?
