Heya folks.
I have a 2003 Lancer coupe that I bought second hand and on,y came with 1 key. The key has cracks in it and I want to replace it. The locksmith tells me it has a chip in it and will cost me $100 to replace but I'm not sure it does. Is there a way to tell? I REALLY can't afford $100 for a car key! If anyone knows I'd love to hear from you. Thanks

 

Check with a dealer with the vin number. My wife's 2003 lancer o.z. did NOT have a chip in the key.
