Default Eclipse rim question

I have a set of factory eclipse 16" rims. They are the directional rims and 5 lug. I want to put them on my 01 Galant but the bolt holes seem big for the Galant. Are there special lugs I have to use for the eclipse rims to fit on the Galant?

Welcome to DF.

First off, make sure the Galant uses 5X114 rims with a 46mm offset. If it does (obviously I don't know that one, lol), you will have to use the lug nuts from the Eclipse too.
When you get new rims, you should get matching lugs....just for that reason your concerned about. If you didn't you can find some at Autozone or the likes.

Default RE: Eclipse rim question

I didn't get any lugs with the rims. My question is my Galant wheel studs seem too small for the eclipse rim bolt holes. What kind of lugs do these rims require? Is there anything special about them. Or will they just not fit on my car. The rims in this pic are the ones I am referring to.

thanks for any help

Default RE: Eclipse rim question

If they are anything like my stock lug nuts, they are an "acorn" type. That's why you have to use the stock lug nuts...they go with the stock rim. Do you follow me?
Here's another question, do the Eclipse lug nuts work with the Galant studs? If so, then the Galant studs aren't too small for the Eclipse rim holes.
Which Eclipse rim does not matter. What does matter is the bolt pattern which is 5x114 with an offset of 46mm for all 2G DSMs, Avenger/Sebrings, and Galants of the same years (again, don't know about the 01+ and I don't even know what year Galant you're referring to). They are built in the same factory and both the 2G DSM and A/S are based of the Galant "frame". They also share some parts.
To remove the "seem" from your equation, try it. Put the rim on, put the lug nuts on and call it a day.
If you don't have the rim or Galant to try it, then what are you saying about the bolt of the Galant seeming too small? Don't eyeball it.

Most Mitsu 5 bolt wheels are interchangable... Its worth a try, IMO.
