Default engine computer module

Please Help! I am putting a used engine computer module in my daughters 2005 Mitsubishi eclipse. And I was wanting to know what do I have to have done now so the car will start?
Do I have to take it in to the dealership to have it programmed to the car? Or can I just have a lock smith come out and program the Key? please help I have gotten so many different answers[:@]

as long as the used ECM is from the same type of car you should be fine to plug and play. But why do you think you need to replace it? Its pretty rare for an ECM to go bad

Same engine and transmission and it should be fine to start right up.
