Default ETACS Module

My left turn signal went out and the problem was discovered to be the ETACS module in my '99 Galant GTZ. That module controls a lot of things, the turn signals being the least of 'em, and everything else works well. After paying a $187 "diagnostic fee" I had to balk at the $350 part charge plus labor and figure there's gotta be a better way.

My questions: Has anybody else had a similar problem they solved some other way?

Are there any caveats I should know about before removing the ETACS module? (besides disconnecting the battery)

Anybody got any other ideas????

Default Etacs

I have the same problem but on the right side. the main thing to remember is to disconnect the battery. I know this sounds elementary but this step is often
forgotten. if you can hear the relay clicking the trouble is probably the resister immediately after the relay. I am in the process of taking mine out this weekend so I will relay information as I complete the task. The difference of a $1.00 resister or a $400.00 part makes it worth trying. That is if you are good at soldering.

Default Keep us posted

I look forward to any info you give on the ETACS unit from your experience. My power door locks, alarm, and radio aren't working and the service shop said it was the ETACS.
Keep us posted on your experience and maybe include pictures if it isn't to much troupble
