Hi,

I have a loud rattling coming from the undercarriage of my 97 Montero Sport. Someone mentioned it may be the exhaust heat shield. Anyone know if this is an expensive repair? I heard they may have to either weld it back on or just screw it back on.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

It could just be a loose bolt or a bent heat shield which shouldn't be expensive to fix. The average home mechanic could repair it themselves...I don't know if you fit into this category.

 

Thanks for the response. Unfortunatley, I don't fit into the category of home mechanic, but I do have a person who does. I'm glad to hear it is not going to be expensive.
