Default Heater core Removal question

I plan to do the front heater core remove/install 2002 Montero limited. Is it necessary to discharge the AC and disconnect the lines into the housing? Or is it possible to remove the
core without disturbing the AC?

I believe that you will have to discharge and reclaim the Refrigerant in order to get the housing out of the area to work on it. Let us know how you make out...

Default Thanks

Thanks Mitch,
Some vehicle manuals tell you to disconnect AC lines at housing. I was hoping after removing the dash etc. I could remove the core from the housing without taking out the housing. Today I bypassed the heater core so I could drive it until I get a couple of days to work on it.

That is a great idea as this would take a few days to do, Are you sure there is a problem with the heater core.. Leaking, Blocked etc...
