HELP! 1996 eclipse failsafe mode
hello all. i need some advice-help. my 1996 eclipse has 2.0 motor and auto trans. the transmission is now in the failsafe mode. i checked the fuses and all good, next i removed the speed senser on trans and cleaned, i did go to auto parts store to buy one but there not in stock so they ordered me one, so thats why i took the old one off and cleaned it and reinstalled, took for a test drive and still in failsafe, BUT AS IM PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY NOTICE MY TEMPATURE GAUGE IS RUNNING A LITTLE HOT THEN IT WENT DOWN TO HALF WAY, A FEW MINUTES LATER BACK UP AGAIN, THEN DOWN, I LET IT RUN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, FANS ARE WORKING AND ITS NOT OVERHEATING, ANY IDEAS??? IM THINKING NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS IN FAILSAFE MODE FOR SOME OTHER REASON AND IM LOOKING AT THE WRONG PROBLEM TRYING TO FIX IT.
i previously looked at the coolant in the overflow container, it said full and i could see the coolant, so right now i took off the radiator cap and low on coolant, it took about a half a gallon to bring it to the top, test drove it and temp gauge is holding steady and back to normal, im hoping i eliminated a cooling problem causing the transmission problem, but i still have the failsafe problem i need to deal with.
